Hi, I'm currently volunteering teaching English at an NGO for a couple of hours each morning. (This will switch to afternoon next month.) I'm seelking part-time work teaching English at any language school. At present I'm working my way through a list of schools on the internet. Do any readers of this have any idea who is recruiting. I have a bachelors and masters degrees in economics plus the CELTA course in English teaching. Does anyone know who is recruiting at the moment or do you work for a school you would recommend (or know of any schools you wouldn't recommend?)
cheers
Richard

You can fill out a form at PUC Main Campus north of the Hong Kong Center Street 3. Take an envelope and your CV, then put your form and CV in and write for the attention of Mr Kieng Rotana. The wages are pretty basic, but it gets you in the door.

with a CELTA and degree you have far better choices than PUC. Try ACE (off Monivong Blvd near Lucky Supermarket), Try Lim Kok Wing (sp?) University. I don't know there term dates, but you don't need to wait until term is due to start anyway, people leave at all sorts of times. Contact the schools (make sure you have a photo on your CV) and then follow up regularly. Things change all the time ...

You have higher qualifications than many, so aim higher than PUC. Highly recommend ACE, for money, resources and a far lower than usual level of the general hopelessness that often exists in such schools. Strongly recommend against Western International School, for all the same reasons. Most schools hire on a sessional basis (3-month terms, starting Sept/Jan/Apr/Jul), and they are usually looking for someone who will teach 15-25 hours a week at least. But sometimes you get can lucky with a mid-term hire or a lighter schedule, depends on the situation.

I'll strongly recommend against Western International School.
Mickey Mouse international school who care nowt about education, care of students or quality of teachers.
