I recently had a few beers with a mate who came up with the idea of raising a few dollars and doing a Christmas Toy Run to some hospitals and orphanages. I liked the sound of his idea so I'm posting this on Expat Advisory for a bit of discussion and to find out if others are interested
in perhaps forming a club.

Please note that the following has also been entered onto other website forums.

My personal thoughts are us follows:

* Set up a club for bike riders, non riders and anyone who is interested.

* Raise funds through donations, occasional fund raising events such as Cyclo bar crawls and sponsorship from companies.

* Have a day once a year where toys are delivered to children, also rice and mosquito nets could be delivered to sick children's parents.

* Once the club is set up I'd like to think it won't be hijacked by any particular bar, or group of individuals. When meetings are held they can be moved around to different bars. It's the bar owners who could really make this work.

* We would not be an NGO nor would operate like an NGO. 100% of money goes to the children. Should we for example, travel out to a province we pay for our own fuel, accommodation etc.

* Acknowledge all donations on the Expat Advisory Forum and keep people posted on the club's financial status.

As I said previously, these are my own personal thoughts. I look forward to hearing other people's ideas. For anyone who doesn't actually post on Expat Advisory, feel free to email me; murray [at] citylink [dot] com [dot] kh

Cheers Murray.
