Krousar Thmey is the first Cambodian Foundation helping deprived children. It exists since 1991.
Founded in Cambodian refugees’ camp of Site II by Benoît Duchâteau-Arminjon in 1991, Krousar Thmey is now acting in 12 provinces of Cambodia though 3 main programmes:
- Educational Support, mainly for blind children and deaf children, in increasing collaboration with the Ministry of Education
- Child Welfare, for abandoned or orphaned children, street children and children who have been victims of child trafficking
- Cultural and Artistic Development, throughout all of our structures
As long range development, all projects are run for Cambodians by Cambodians (385 local employees).
Krousar Thmey is registered as a local NGO Foundation. It has 3 European branches for fundraising, run by volunteers only and state-approved in the UK, Switzerland and France. Thanks to careful utilisations of funds and commitment of staff, administrative costs represented only 3.8% of total donations.
