Position Vacant: Teacher of English (EFL)

Location: Yangon, Myanmar.

Contract length: 12 months (renewable subject to mutual agreement). 3-month probationary period.

Start date: Immediate

Salary and benefits: Salary and benefits to the value of up to USD 17,600 (tax-free).

Job Description: The successful applicant will be required to prepare and deliver high-quality English lessons to learners of English as a foreign language, and to contribute to the course development and improvement, and other operations of Nexus English.

Benefits: You will be entitled to 4 weeks’ paid holidays per year (possibly up to 6). You will have potential opportunities to teach English for specific purposes, and to travel and teach around Myanmar. You will also be entitled to a total of up to 2 weeks’ paid sick and emergency leave, which will accrue pro-rata at the end of each week. You will also have opportunities for professional development, and for promotion.

Selection criteria: Highly proficient native English speaker, TOEFL- or CELTA-qualified. A university degree and at least 1 year of relevant teaching experience. Experience teaching English for specific purposes (e.g., business, hospitality and tourism, IELTS) a significant advantage. Must be willing to teach a variety of ages and levels. General computer and Internet skills. Ability to work independently, without supervision. Experience travelling or living in Southeast Asia (especially Myanmar) an advantage. Personal qualities: patient and professional, reliable and honest, with a good sense of humour.
