hullo,
anyone know the requirements on licensing for legal practitioners in cambodia? am currently not working in my field, but would like to find some work more closely related to my degrees (B Commerce / B Laws) ... do lawyers in cambodia require a license from whatever department, as we do back home? and if so, anyone know the procedure for getting one?
worked as a solicitor for legal aid in an inland australian city for a few years, ran a small computer business for a few years before that ... fluent in english and mandarin, can read a little french and latin ...
oh, and info on the licensing most welcome, thx in advance!
There's the Cambodian Bar Association to register with.
http://www.bakc.org.kh/ [Their official website. They now appear to have 101 hits, so if it's busy when you look, try again later... I can't find an English version of their site...]

Unless you're khmer, sorry, you're outta luck. Feel free to discuss with them but at present all registered lawyers are khmer and it looks like it will stay that way for now (cf the relevant section of Who's Who In Cambodia if you've got a copy handy).

And there's this firm too:

But, the comments above re registration as a lawyer stand. Of course, there's many people doing legal work here who are not registered with the bar, as not all legal work requires you to be licensed - same as "back home"...

correct me if I am wrong. the foreign lawyers working here for the above listed companies work as "advisors". They work along side the Khmer bar registered lawyers.
That is correct, Anthony.
thx guys. got your msg too BC, will sms you later, maybe a chat over a coffee (beer?) later next week-ish?
Cheers,
