“Arts as a key to empower livelihood”
Phare Ponleu Selpak (PPS) is a Cambodian NGO that started in Battambang since 1994 by eight young Cambodian refugees upon their return from the Site 2 Refugee Camp on the Thai border. After initially participating in drawing workshops, these young guys decided to initiate a socio-cultural center. It was designed to build peace and to promote development of individuals and communities through the the improvement and revival of Cambodian arts & culture.

PPS has since developed a wide approach towards children’s rights & communities development through:
- Social Services : housing, clothing, health care, feeding & supporting local children & families.
- Educational programs: academic schooling, informal classes & library.
- Artistic and cultural trainings: Visual arts (drawing, painting, cartoon animation, illustration and graphic design), Music (modern & traditional),circus & theater.
