Sight, Smell and Taste..in search for the perfect bakery and pastry in Phnom Penh

Baithong Restaurant took the first place during a simple pleasure competition searching for that perfect pastry that we indulge most of the time. The panel of judges from various groups such as Jerome (Cellier D’Asie), Chef Takashi (La Residence), Chef Ludo (French Embassy), Guillaume (F&B Consultant), Dara (Sundara International) and of course myself felt that the competition was interesting as all of us came from different background and taste. To hype up the competition, it was a blind tasting and came with no surprise for me on the winners as these three places are my common playground for morning or afternoon crave. The second place went to Comme a la Maison and third is The Shop.

The 1st ever pastry and bakery competition was to highlight the best of pastry in Phnom Penh. The venue was hosted by K-West , the 1st place winner of Bartender Competition held earlier in October during the CamFood and organized by Sundara International, a company responsible of bringing bakery products since 2006 was part of French rendezvous week from 29th October to 7th November. The main showcase of their product is SAF Instant Yeast, Dara the Director of Sundara International said that SAF Instant Yeast is the most consistent instant yeast ever created. It provides excellent for oven and fryer, improves texture and enhances crust color.
