Earlier in the year, Cambodia saw the worst flooding in over a decade; at least 150 killed, 100,000 families in 15 provinces affected, 170,000 hectares of rice fields and 63,000 homes were submerged, more than 300 schools were closed, Much of the country is still reeling from the impact. A fact which is so easy to ignore in the hermetically sealed, Phnom Penh, expat bubble.

But the cliché that the worst of times brings out the best in people holds true and many have been doing their bit to help out.

One rather pleasurable way you can do your bit is to get down to Titanic Club on Tuesday 15th November and enjoy Down By the Waterline, a line up of eclectic music all performing in aid of flood relief. Tickets are $10 and all proceed go towards supporting the people affected by the floods and helping to rebuild devastated communities.

Organized by Bona and Mel from Memphis Pub, the line up is a pleasantly mixed bag, with something for everyone; from funk/soul from Durian to deathcore from Sliten6ix, from lo—fi bluegrass from Grass Snake Union to the four to the floor rock stomp of Anti-fate, to name but a few of the bands performing.

So, put your dancing shoes on, give those tightly sealed wallets a gentle lubrication in aid of a good cause and enjoy a night of fine and varied musical pleasures.

The Down By the Waterline event takes place at Titanic Club on Sisowath Quay on the Tuesday 15th of November from 8pm til midnight. Tickets are $10 on the door with all proceeds going to support flood relief efforts.
