If you can’t think what to do with your little monsters this Halloween weekend, how about getting hands on and crafty at a Halloween Origami Workshop with Origami artist Miho Saturai at Monument Books this Saturday.

Miho moved here from her native Tokyo a few years ago and has since been teaching origami to children as well as helping to set up a series of Nursery Schools with Cambodia Schools, using the money she made working for Epson back in Japan, to support her work.

She says, ‘Origami is very popular among Japanese children. It has the value of teaching concentration, creative thinking and fine motor skills all at once. Some children find it hard at first, but they continue, step by step, and by the end can make a lot of different types of Origami.’

The children will be able to make three or four different pieces of origami on the day to take home and decorate their houses with. Miho has brought special Origami paperdirect from Japan, which is fine quality but also very easy for a child to handle.
