1. Clark Hatch Fitness Center, Intercontinental
Easily the best facility in town! The consistently cool temperature allows you to work out every muscle on their new machines and free-weights. The aerobic room is home to punching bags and mats giving you no excuse to not jump rope or stretch. The locker room is clean and comfortable and the pool is great for relaxing, but, be warned, it is not the best lap pool.
$80-90 a month. *discounts for long term membership, off peak, and couples.
6am-10pm, Sat/Sun 8am-8pm
No. 296 Mao Tse Tung Boulevard (InterContinental Hotel)
023 424 888

2. Paddy's Sports Centre
A very close second. Home of the Angkor Youth Boxing Club, Paddy's is the place you go to train hard. It has by far the largest selection of weights and machines (newly imported from the US). But this is definitely a step down in luxury. With no real locker room or A/C it takes determination and motivation to be a true patron. It offers instruction in the boxing ring for a small fee.
$3 a visit (includes group aerobics) $45 a month
No.635, National Road 5
012 214 940

3. Raffles Hotel Le Royal
Raffles has an amazing pool that invites patrons to submerge for laps or leisure. New and hardly used weights and elliptical equipment along with a top notch locker room make Raffles a great place to frequent and become a member.
$90 a month *discounts for long term membership, off peak, and couples.
Street 92 by Monivong Boulevard
023 981 888

4. Fitness One
Great location and lap pool boost this gym in the rankings. A decent amount of weights and equipment, however space is limited especially during the 6 p.m. rush. The pool is a typical lap pool, and the locker rooms could use a little TLC. Also the most expensive gym in the area.
$100 a month *discounts for long term membership, off peak, and couples
No. 313, Sisowath Quay
(Himawari Hotel)
023 214 555

5. Physique Club
With a great view of the river, this facility has a ton of potential but currently poor space management drag this gym down in the rankings. A very knowledgeable staff will gladly provide advice on the average equipment. The locker-room needs major changes and the swimming pool is great for leisure but a few meters short to swim laps. However the price makes it attractive.
$56 a month *discounts for long term membership, off peak, and couples
No.313, Sisowath Quay
(Cambodiana Hotel)
023 426 288

6. VIP
Below average weight room without A/C and a professional bench press. Most of the weights and equipment are worn, same goes for the locker room. The pool and tennis courts make it desirable if you are focusing more on cardio.
$60 a month *many discount options
Norodom Boulevard
(North Monivong Bridge)
023 993 535

7. Phnom Penh Health Club
Basic equipment and weights ensure the gym doesn't stand out although they have a row of newer treadmills to walk, jog, or run on. The pool is not a lap pool, but if there are no children dive bombing you should have no problem covering some distance. The locker room has seen better days but the hot/cold jacuzzis are an added bonus.
$80 a month *discounts for long term membership, off peak, and couples
No.53 Monivong Boulevard
(Phnom Penh Hotel)
023 991 868

8. Sokha Club Hotel
The new kid on the kid comes equipped with new weights and equipment but, unfortunately, the space is tight and the gym is small. Though, on the flipside, you are more than likely to have the place to yourself! The locker rooms are brand spanking new too. Lacking a pool, your options are limited to the gym.
Discounted rates until June 30th, 2008
63 Norodom blvd
023 990 123

9. Parkway Health Club
One of the few places in Phnom Penh with an indoor pool, so be rest assured you won't be getting sun burnt here! This place gets a lot of use and it shows but with that in mind you should be able to get a decent work out here.
$55 a month * discounts apply
No. 113, Mao Tse Tung Boulevard
(Parkway Square)
023 991 868

10. Sunway
Minimalism is the word of choice for this gym. A bit light on weights and machines, this hotel does not offer an amazing workout facility by any standards. Locker rooms are clean and they have a steam and hot tub. No swimming pool.
$60 a month *discounts available
No. 1, Street 92,
(Directly opposite the US Embassy)
023 430 333

Stay far , far away from the

Stay far , far away from the gym called "The Place". Membership prices are outrageous even if they have a pool which most don't use. Staff is obsequious, the a/c is turned on to very low and one must ask to pump up the coolness, the "promotional" price for one month used to be $130 and now is up to $150.00!!!!!!!!!! OUTRAGEOUS. There are gyms around town that are, perhaps, not as "good" but just how many treadmills does one need? Weight room is only average. Often one cannot use the gym on Sundays because, mysterious, there is not power, so if you plan on using the gym on Sundays, you might call ahead to see if they are open for business. Just so arrogant one can't abide.............
